Cafe Pan-Afrika föreläsning: SaFe Black Feminist Forum PDF Skriv ut E-postadress
As a season finale Café Pan-Africa and Afrosvenskarna i Stockholm are honored to invite you to the launching seminar of "SaFe", a new Black feminist forum in Sweden. It will be an opportunity for SaFe's representatives to introduce the organization to the wider public and engage us all in a discussion about Black feminism and their focus on theories and practices of intersectionality. All of which are questions of the greatest concern to Cafe Pan-Afrika and Afrosvenskarna i Stockholm

The organization SaFe was born out of the concern to deal with the particular dimensions of being a woman and Black in Sweden. After the sexist and racist cake party at Moderna Muséet, the sexist and racist Little Heart children's book character (Lilla Hjärtat), the vulnerable situation of undocumented women made worse with the Reva project, the vulnerable situation of black African mothers facing social services and removal of their children; SaFe is here to fill a gap and open up a space for discussions and action pertaining to Black women's particular racial and gender oppression in Sweden.

Speakers for this seminar will be Karin Carlsson Kanyama (organization), Elisabete Cátia Suzana (Black Feminism) and Victoria Kawesa (intersectionality)

South Africa: Solidarity after the Marikana Massacre PDF Skriv ut E-postadress
August 16 marks one year after the day when 34 striking mine workers were shot dead and more than 78 wounded in Marikana, South Africa. The event marked a turning point for the social movement in South Africa. Together with Sharpeville in 1960 and Soweto in 1976 when police opened fire on demonstrations killing hundreds of people.
These events mark moments when South African politics and realities are unveiled. More recently, on 25 May, Africa Day, xenophobia reared its ugly head once more in South Africa, particularly against Somali and Pakistani traders in the Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth) and Gauteng (Diepsloot and the Vaal).
What does this mean and how do we develop solidarity within these realities? To help us explore these issues Café Pan-Afrika in Cooperation with Afrikagrupperna have invited Maria van Driel (phd) of the Kanya College in Johannesburg. She is the Busara Research & Publications coordinator and Editor of the Khanya Journal.
You are most welcome to take partake of her lecture Tuesday 18 June 18.00-20.00 at the Café Pan-Africa, Bohusgatan 25 in Skanstull.
